The short version

- Google reCAPTCHA sets cookies to stop spam on the forms.
- You can change your choices in the cookie banner, if shown, or in your browser settings.
1What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, do the same kind of job. They help a website work, remember your choices and understand how it is used.
2Cookies I use
This is a summary of the types of cookie that may be used on hassanwaqar.com.
| Type | What it does | Examples | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps the website secure, protects forms from spam and makes core features work. | Google reCAPTCHA (_GRECAPTCHA); technical cookies set by WordPress and Elementor | From the end of your visit up to 6 months |
| Preferences | Remembers choices you make, such as your cookie settings. | First-party preference cookies | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Shows me how visitors use the website so I can improve it. | [Only if enabled: e.g. Google Analytics — _ga, _ga_*] | Varies by provider, typically up to 2 years |
| Marketing | Measures how my advertising performs and helps show relevant ads on other platforms. | [Only if enabled: e.g. Meta Pixel — _fbp; TikTok Pixel — _ttp; LinkedIn Insight Tag] | Varies by provider, typically 90 days to 2 years |
Strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent because the website cannot work properly without them. Anything else is used only where you have agreed, or where the law otherwise allows.
3Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by other companies whose services appear on this website:
- Google reCAPTCHA protects the enquiry forms from bots. It reads information about your device and how you interact with the page. Google’s privacy policy and terms apply.
- Embedded media and social platforms, such as YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook, may set their own cookies when you view embedded content or follow a link to them.
- Analytics and advertising providers may set cookies if I use them, as shown in the table above.
I do not control third-party cookies. Please see the relevant provider’s policy for details.
4Managing cookies
If a cookie banner is shown on the website, you can use it to accept, reject or change your choices. You can also control cookies in your browser:
To opt out of Google Analytics across websites, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The Your Online Choices site lets you manage interest-based advertising.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, including those used by reCAPTCHA, parts of the website such as the enquiry forms may stop working.
5Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when I change the cookies or tools I use. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. For how I handle personal information more generally, see the privacy policy.
